Ashura in Bahrain

 

Ashura is the commemoration  of Imam Hussein's death, the grandson of the Prophet Mohamed. It is  an essential part of the Muslim Shia's identity.

During 10 days, processions and reenactments revive the battle of Kerbala where Imam Hussein is said to have died. With the processions, cooking to feed the numerous participants represents a big part of the logistic of Ashura.
